Welcome

On behalf of the Australasian Curriculum, Assessment and Certification Authorities (ACACA), I welcome you to the 2011 ACACA Conference, Assessment for learning in the 21st century.

In 2011, this annual conference invites all educators involved in curriculum, assessment and certification to join us in Queensland at the Novotel Brisbane on 3–5 August.

Upon arrival on Wednesday 3 August, a welcome reception will be held to commence the conference and will be followed by two days of discussions and networking on technology and assessment, assessing general capabilities, use of school-based data and moderation practices. An optional conference dinner has been scheduled for Thursday 4 August.

The conference will also play host to the third and final stage of the Assessing 21st century learning project — a closed event for ACACA chief executives and invited academics. The outcome of this project will be an ACACA-endorsed position paper on quality assessment practice within the context of the Australian Curriculum.

I encourage you to take the opportunity to join other professionals for an informed and lively discussion about assessment for learning in the 21st century. I look forward to welcoming you to Brisbane.
